BRAND NAME: Edi-FCM
COMPOSITION: FERRIC CARBOXYMALTOSE INJECTION
Edi-FCM is an injectable preparation containing Ferric Carboxymaltose, formulated to deliver controlled intravenous iron in a clinical setting. It is an iron replacement product used when rapid repletion of iron stores is required or when oral iron is ineffective or not tolerated. Clinically, Edi-FCM is commonly used in patients with iron deficiency anemia who are unable to take or poorly respond to oral iron — including selected patients with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease and others who need parenteral iron therapy.
Once administered, ferric carboxymaltose supplies bioavailable iron that is taken up and incorporated into iron-containing proteins, helping to restore hemoglobin synthesis and cellular oxygen-transport processes. The formulation is designed for parenteral delivery to ensure predictable iron delivery and replenishment of depleted stores.
⚠️ Precautions: Edi-FCM must be given by a trained healthcare professional in a monitored setting. Prior to administration, evaluate iron status, transferrin saturation and ferritin and exclude hypersensitivity and conditions of iron overload. Monitor for infusion reactions and anaphylaxis; emergency measures should be available. Use cautiously in active infections; contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to ferric carboxymaltose or any excipient. Avoid unsupervised self-administration. Monitor iron indices and clinical response after dosing.
